MEDecision Introduces Alineo Care Management Analytics

Technology Identifies and Stratifies Members and Populations to Distinguish Opportunities for Treatment and Care Improvement

WAYNE, Pa., February 26, 2008 -- MEDecision, Inc. (Nasdaq: MEDE), a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, has announced the general availability of Alineo™ Care Management Analytics, a new component for Alineo, the company’s recently released collaborative health care management platform for addressing case management, disease management and utilization management. Alineo Care Management Analytics enables health care payers to identify and stratify individual members and populations and then establish optimal intervention levels and more focused care improvement plans.

“This care management analytics component enables Alineo to offer a new level of sophistication in case and disease management,” said MEDecision Founder and CEO David St.Clair. “It is a simplified and smart technology that helps payers identify at-risk members and populations, and design and deploy optimal care management resources. Ultimately, this helps streamline operations, improve care quality and stabilize costs.”

Alineo Care Management Analytics includes Medical Episode Grouper® (MEG), an industry-standard methodology from Thomson Healthcare, and predictive modeling intelligence from Urix DxCG Science Group. It works in conjunction with Alineo Clinical Intelligence, a component comprised of rules developed from evidence-based medicine, reference materials, industry-standard best practices and physician expertise to ensure clinical consistency in the care management process. Together, the two components help ensure that patient data and related treatment opportunities are routed through the proper workflows and delivered to the appropriate case manager for more effective care plan development and patient intervention.

In addition, Alineo Care Management Analytics offers an open and extensible design for maximum adaptability. It is capable of integrating with a wide array of technical systems and solutions and can be customized to meet the specific needs of individual organizations.

“Interoperability and extensibility are hallmarks of Alineo and its components,” added St.Clair. “We feel it is vital to the future of health care that technologies be able to work together and exchange information. In our estimation, this is our most promising means for improving care and lowering costs system-wide, and is central to MEDecision’s ongoing technology development.”

MEDecision publicly introduced Alineo on January 15 as its completely re-architected collaborative health care management platform. Alineo provides a simplified, smart and state-of-the-art model designed to help health plans improve the quality, safety and affordability of care.

The components that currently comprise Alineo include: Alineo Reporting, Alineo Correspondence, Alineo Automated Approvals, Alineo Clinical Intelligence, Alineo Clinical Programs and Alineo Clinical Summaries. An additional component, Alineo Clinical Criteria, will be added in the coming months.
