The conference is organized by the Teradata PARTNERS Steering Committee and is the world's largest annual data warehousing and enterprise analytics conference and exposition. The conference theme is "Beyond Intelligence," and the conference occurs as Teradata marks its one-year anniversary as an independent company. In more than 200 sessions, the event will focus on industry-leading and innovative practices in creating powerful data infrastructures for competitive business advantage. The event is expected to attract about 4,000 participants from companies in every industry. The keynote speakers are Dan Ariely, MIT professor, economist and author of Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions, and Lance Armstrong, world champion cyclist, cancer activist and author of It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life. Teradata Chief Executive Officer Michael Koehler will speak during the opening session Monday and Chief Technology Officer Stephen Brobst will make multiple presentations during the week. "This event underscores the reality that the global community of Teradata users has surpassed one million and is increasing daily — as centralized analytic infrastructures on an enterprise scale have become mission-critical for leading companies," said Tobianna Zappe, president, PARTNERS User Group Steering Committee, and solutions architect for data warehousing at Nationwide Mutual Insurance. "Beyond the core of Teradata platform users in both business and technology, Teradata touches millions of people every day who interact on Teradata client systems gathering information, shopping, making decisions and purchasing products," said Zappe. "In countless instances, Teradata systems help improve the quality of life for consumers directly and indirectly by raising their collective intelligence pertaining to health, family, finances, social networks, the web, travel and media." "The Teradata PARTNERS User Group event attracts the cream of the crop of BI practitioners," said Wayne Eckerson, director of research at The Data Warehousing Institute. "Teradata customers, more than any other group, have delivered some of the most sophisticated intelligence applications in our industry. I always learn a great deal from them and come away from the event energized." Eckerson, who has authored the best-selling book, Performance Dashboards: Measuring, Monitoring, and Managing Your Business, will speak October 15 on the topic "The Myth of Self-Service BI." Many companies participating at this year's event have been recognized as elite innovators whose best practices and world-class solutions distinguish them in the field of enterprise-class business intelligence (BI). The conference also attracts leading industry analysts, technology consultants and academic partners from across the Teradata University Network, as well as companies representing Teradata's many solution partners and alliances.
