from DSSResources.comBI Congress update: Phoenix Dec. 15, 2009Phoenix, October 9, 2009 -- The pre-ICIS BI Congress welcomes academics who teach, research, or have an interest in the area of Business Intelligence and Decision Support. On December 15, practitioners and industry leaders will join us to explore the current state of Business Intelligence – and to determine future directions for both research and teaching. Details about the BI Congress, jointly sponsored by SIGDSS and the Teradata University Network, may be found at: http://wpcarey.asu.edu/BICongress/index.cfm We are pleased to announce that Professors Tom Davenport and Hugh Watson will serve as keynote speakers for the BI Congress. Professor Davenport helped drive significant efforts and attention to the area of BI with his Harvard Business Review article “Competing on Analytics.” His latest book, Being Analytical: How Organizations Make Fact-Based Decisions, is due out later this year. Professor Watson’s research in executive information systems and data warehousing has set the stage for BI as we know it today. We are grateful for both of these academic leaders and their participation in the BI Congress program! There also are many other exciting components of the Congress, including: · Keynote address by Scott Gnau, VP Teradata Research and Development. · Presentations on current BI degree programs and classes. · Software demonstrations of free BI teaching software. · BI research presentations. · BI practitioner panels. · Mixed panel to explore research and teaching of logical data models. The BI Congress will kick-off with an evening social event on December 14 at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West desert masterpiece (http://www.franklloydwright.org/tours_night_lights.html).
