Prosis can be implemented as an in-house hosted solution, as a Software as-a-Service (SAAS) cloud application, or as part of a company's existing Information Software portfolio. Promisan has the ability to rapidly prototype and deliver tailored solutions that enable continuous customer input during all implementation phases, speeding development and time to market. In 2003, most client-server based ERP solutions were confronted with a dilemma of either migrating the existing solution to a web-based environment or re-engineering the existing solution effectively from scratch. The latter would mean a lengthy redevelopment that could span 5-10 years before the new solution would be mature enough to handle all the functions that were available under the client-server solution built in the 1990s.

Promisan decided in 2004 to re-engineer and was looking for a partner tool that would allow its developers to stay focused on the functionality, but also for a tool that would have support from a provider in many years to come and would not move into an open source model. Promisan needed the commitment, stability and backward compatibility that ColdFusion delivered. In 2014, ColdFusion 11 still delivers the needed functionality and compatibility. Over the years Promisan moved almost all its third-party tools using pure ColdFusion functions and thus over the years created a large-scale ERP solution which can be easily maintained, understood and extended. The current solution provides all the functionality one expects from an ERP solution that scales from 5 to 5000 users and is based on over 1500 normalized database tables.

Currently, an offshore oil distributor uses a custom Prosis solution to manage data and reduced the time to refill massive storage tanks from three days to one.
