Oracle(R) Database 10g sets performance World Record for Linux on non-clustered systems

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., June 29, 2004 -- Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) today set a world record TPC-C performance benchmark result for Oracle(R) Database 10g running on Linux-based SMPs. Using NEC's Express5800/1320Xd server with 32 Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processors at 1.5 GHz with 6 MB L3 cache running on Novell's SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9, Oracle Database 10g achieved 683,575 tpmC (transactions per minute) with a price- performance ratio of $5.99/tpmC. This achievement further demonstrates the power of Oracle Database 10g and Linux to meet the scalability and high performance requirements of an enterprise environment.

"More and more customers are turning to Linux to support their large-scale enterprises," said Richard Sarwal, vice president of Server Performance of Oracle Corp. "By showing outstanding Linux database performance on the largest SMPs, Oracle continues to prove that Linux can handle the world's toughest workloads."

Oracle has an extensive track record of delivering world record performance and scalability. With Oracle Database 10g, the company continues to provide customers with industry-leading capabilities that support their demanding data warehousing and transaction processing requirements.
