Mary Kay, Inc. recognized for implementing supply chain solutions

ATLANTA, GA, Jan. 17, 2005 -- Manhattan Associates(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: MANH), the global leader in providing supply chain execution and optimization solutions, congratulates the significant supply chain achievements of key customer Mary Kay, Inc. -- recognized recently by a leading publication for its achievements.

InfoWorld celebrated the 100 Best IT Projects of the Year in its November issue. The article touted the successes of Mary Kay Inc., one of the largest direct sellers of skin care and cosmetics in the world, for optimizing its business processes. Mary Kay's project was number two in the list of 100 and cited Manhattan Associates as an important component in its improved operations. The company was able to streamline supply chain processes by implementing Manhattan Associates' Integrated Logistics Solutions and Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services and BizTalk Server 2004.

Mary Kay deployed Manhattan Associates' Warehouse Management and Trading Partner Management solutions -- components of its Integrated Logistics Solutions for Retail -- to gain real-time inventory visibility, reduced inventory and distribution transaction lead times and more efficient and detailed tracking and management of goods. SQL Server Reporting Services powered Mary Kay's real-time visibility to its financial data, with BizTalk Server providing the XML integration platform to simplify the integration process between new and legacy systems. These practices helped in developing a more efficient supply chain process and real time access to key information from source to consumption.

"Mary Kay's use of Manhattan Associates' Integrated Logistics Solutions and Microsoft's SQL Server and BizTalk Server for its global supply chain initiative is an excellent example of how technology can help retailers improve operational efficiencies and make faster, more accurate decisions in key functional areas such as inventory and overall logistics management," said Brian Scott, general manager for the Retail & Hospitality Industry Unit at Microsoft. "Manhattan Associates has aligned its solutions with Microsoft's Smarter Retailing Initiative, helping Mary Kay improve how it runs its business by providing real-time visibility into the metrics that drive profitability and maximize the value of new business opportunities as it expands its global reach."

"We could ask for no greater reward than to see our customers succeed," said Pete Sinisgalli, Manhattan Associates' president and chief executive officer. "Mary Kay is a company with long-standing success and strong supply chain initiatives. We are glad that, through our Integrated Logistics Solutions and our strong partnership with Microsoft, we could play a role in helping them achieve this recent recognition."
