Gartner announces Business Intelligence Summit 2005 for March 7-9, 2005

Chicago, IL, January 28, 2005 -- The Gartner Business Intelligence Summit 2005 will be held March 7-9, 2005 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers, Chicago, Illinois.

"Better decision making." That's what most organizations say they want to use Business Intelligence to support. But are organizations making any better decisions today than 5 years ago? Most are not. Businesses have been focusing on cost cutting and compliance, making the impact of BI often still tactical.

However, successful organizations have a real vision for BI. They're developing "early warning" systems to increase business agility and responsiveness. While many implemented "fancy dashboards", others used BI to create a true performance culture. Investment in BI is increasing, as organizations invest again in sharing broader insight within the company and beyond: partners, suppliers, regulators, shareholders, and customers.

At the Business Intelligence Summit 2005, Gartner will show you how to increase your performance. Learn from the top analysts and leading organizations about innovative uses in the field of business intelligence, data warehousing and corporate performance management.

Gartner Business Intelligence Summit 2005 is the only event designed to provide businesses with the knowledge they will require to create a visionary Business Intelligence (BI) strategy. Through a content-focused curriculum, attendees will learn the methodologies, strategies, technologies and architectures that will move them from the tactics of cost cutting and compliance, to increasing their companies' agility and responsiveness and improving overall business performance.

Keynote speakers include Tom Malone, professor at MIT Sloan School of Management and author of "The Future of Work," and Don Tapscott, author of "The Naked Corporation." They will both discuss their insights surrounding organizational challenges and solutions - related to BI.

The first BI Excellence Award winner will be voted for and announced onsite in Chicago. Award entrants will be evaluated against a range of criteria including Gartner's Cornerstone of Business Excellence Research Note. Three finalists, to be selected by Gartner's Business Intelligence Team, will present their solutions at the Business Intelligence Summit. Event attendees will then vote to select the winner of the first Gartner BI Excellence Award.
