U.S. Strategic Command selects AtHoc(TM) for user alerting system

Alerts About Security Conditions Tracked and Delivered to Targeted War Fighters in Real-Time at USSTRATCOM's Command and Control Center

BURLINGAME, Calif., March 2, 2005 -- AtHoc, Inc. today announced that the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) has selected the AtHoc C2Alerts(TM) solution for deployment of a real-time user alerting system in the USSTRATCOM Command and Control (C2) Center.

AtHoc's C2Alerts will monitor changes in strategic and security events tracked by USSTRATCOM in their core mission areas, and deliver real-time alerts targeted to war fighters and commanders based on their role, self-subscription and need-to-know. The alerting system will be deployed for approximately 2,500 users at USSTRATCOM headquarters in Offutt AFB, Nebraska.

The objective of USSTRATCOM's user alerting system is to allow the decision makers to manage their environment by exception rather then spend time searching for changes, a process than can take hours or even days. This will create a higher level of situational awareness among decision makers, enabling them to effectively handle critical events and data in a timely manner, especially in times of high activity or in crisis situations.

Specifically, AtHoc C2Alerts enables USSTRATCOM to:

-- Capture events from multiple information sources using agent technology

-- Identify target users based on their role and self-subscription to alerts

-- Deliver alerts in real time to target users directly to desktop and web, displaying notifications based on event priority ("Must Respond" alerts, "FYI" alerts and others)

-- Track alert response and escalate appropriately

-- Pre-assign alert channels to specific roles

-- Enable users to opt in/opt out of alerts based on permission and need-to-know

-- Provide management tools enabling non-IT personnel to configure, update the system

"We are excited USSTRATCOM has selected AtHoc's market leading user alerting software for its mission-critical alerting needs," said Guy Miasnik, President and CEO of AtHoc. "We look forward to contributing our expertise in communications and alerting technologies to further advance USSTRATCOM's security and defense initiatives."

USSTRATCOM selected AtHoc C2Alerts after a detailed six-month trade study in which several vendors of real-time communications and alerting platforms, including providers of enterprise instant messaging, were thoroughly evaluated. AtHoc gained the highest scores for product maturity, enterprise-class features, ease of use and fastest deployment time. The trade study by USSTRATCOM concluded that AtHoc was, "leader in meeting [requirement] criteria, user-rated as the most intuitive product," and that the product required the "least amount of modifications and scheduled time to field."

By selecting AtHoc, USSTRATCOM benefits from commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software that can be quickly deployed and that immediately addresses many of the Command's real-time communications and user alerting needs. The AtHoc C2Alerts is based on AtHoc Notifications Server v6.0 and client desktop application, and runs on a Microsoft Windows Servers and SQL Servers.
