U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) deploys Xythos to support multi-national forces in Iraq

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, March 29, 2005--Xythos Software, the leading developer of simple document and file management software, today announced that the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) has successfully deployed the company's WebFile Server (WFS) to support its Cross Domain Collaborative Information Environment (CDCIE) being fielded in Iraq to support U.S. and Coalition Forces. The CDCIE is intended to assist the combined forces information sharing and decision making capabilities and will leverage Xythos' technology for improved document management and workflow functions. The open web standards-based design of both the Xythos WFS and the CDCIE will permit secure information access and sharing for participants using a wide variety of client system technology, helping to simplify project coordination and improve mission effectiveness.

USJFCOM selected Xythos WFS after successfully integrating the company's products within an experimental Collaborative Information Environment deployed during Multinational Experiment 3 (MNE3) in 2004. The WebFile Server's seamless support for Microsoft Office 2000 and Microsoft Web Folders, combined with a scalable collaboration application, created a rich information-sharing environment. This environment enabled participants to collectively author, publish and manage documents efficiently over a distributed worldwide network using WebDAV-enabled operating systems like Windows 2000.

Open web standards support simplifies the process of collaboration by minimizing the need for extra or customized software to be installed on all participants' systems, permitting the use of a variety of operating systems and applications. This simplifies coordination among coalition partners by reducing requirements for system updates or changes in order to access shared information and supports common methods for system-wide authentication, helping improve overall system security.

"A secure and easy to integrate content management platform is a key requirement for many of today's collaborative application environments," said Ed Miller, CEO of Xythos. "We are honored to once again be selected by the U.S. Department of Defense to help support our armed forces and coalition partners by providing this type of solution." Unlike traditional enterprise content management systems, Xythos file and document management technology was developed from the beginning to be easily integrated as a component of larger applications, such as the CDCIE. This has allowed developers at both commercial and internal IT departments to accelerate application development projects as they work to web-enable their organization's products and systems.

This Xythos announcement has been approved by the U.S. Joint Forces Command.
