BIO-key receives order for combined mobile data solution from City of Galax, VA

City arms public safety officers with critical information, increasing their productivity and safety

WALL, N.J., May 13, 2005 -- BIO-key International, Inc., the leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, has been awarded a contract to equip Galax, Virginia law enforcement and fire professionals with its MobileCOP(TM) and PacketCluster Rescue mobile data solutions. The system will provide first responders with interoperable communications for silent and secure messaging between law enforcement and fire.

In addition to the integrated communications, law enforcement personnel will have rapid access to wants, warrants, stolen vehicles and other criminal justice information, enhancing officer safety and productivity. The city plans to interface their computer aided dispatch system to BIO-key's MobileCOP solution in the near future, providing additional value to first responders for both police and fire.

"With MobileCOP installed in our vehicles officers can access NCIC, NLETS, DMV and other criminal justice databases in seconds," commented Captain James Cox, of the Galax Police Department. "This reduces radio traffic with dispatch and gives our officers the advantage in dealing with a potentially serious situation."

"BIO-key is delighted to be selected by the City of Galax as their partner for a wireless mobile data system," said Randy Fodero, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing. "Once again, we see that our solutions generate value for our customers through increased staff productivity, faster response to public safety needs and greater officer safety," he concluded.
