Red Hen Systems' GeoVideo 1.1 expands video support in the ESRI ArcGIS mapping environment

FORT COLLINS, Colo., July 22, 2005 -- Red Hen Systems, Inc., announces the release of GeoVideo 1.1, a pioneering extension for ESRI ArcGIS (versions 8.x and 9.x) that enables users to integrate spatially referenced video and stills into interactive maps. Red Hen Systems, an ESRI Business Partner, continues to enhance GeoVideo within its comprehensive portfolio of solutions for collecting and exploiting digital stills and geo-spatial video within GIS environments.

GeoVideo 1.1 offers support for indexing MPEG and Windows standard video formats, eliminating the need to create a DVD volume to import data. "The new version of GeoVideo will save our customers time and money by simplifying the process of importing video into ArcGIS," said Neil Havermale, President of Red Hen Systems. "This simplicity eliminates the need to be a DVD creation expert." Data created with GeoVideo can be processed into either an ESRI shp file or a geo-database.

Additionally, GeoVideo supports Red Hen Systems' newly released Spatial Digital Video Recorder (sDVR), a video mapping system that completely eliminates post-mission indexing. sDVR creates instant geospatial indexes and allows for the rapid distribution of work products in native MPEG video format.

GeoVideo software enables users to geo-reference and map digital still images, video recordings, and audio to create multimedia maps that deliver clear pictures and precise locations of targeted geographical areas. Red Hen Systems offers several low-cost field solutions for encoding video with geo-referenced information using a patented technique, which preserves the integrity of the video through the editing process. Using off-the-shelf video recorders and Red Hen's video mapping technology, users can collect the data necessary to create multimedia maps that deliver a wealth of information to planners, field personnel, and decision-makers. GeoVideo rapidly processes the video and creates an index layer of the collection route, which users can click on at any point to access the video. As the video plays, a moving cursor indicates position and camera direction. At any point, users can capture a spatially-referenced still image or video clip from the video.

Red Hen Systems is a leading provider of geospatial multimedia solutions that combine computer-based digital mapping technologies with geospatially referenced digital and video imagery enabling the effective management of resources, physical assets and critical infrastructure. The company's hardware and software products are unique in their ability to rapidly document and disseminate geospatially referenced information on computer-based maps to communicate "what is where" for key decision makers.
