HERNDON, Va., Aug. 16, 2005 -- Isabel Healthcare, Inc. today announced the commercial availability of the Isabel Bioterrorism Module. Offered through its Web-based diagnosis reminder and knowledge mobilizing system, the Isabel Bioterrorism Module bridges the knowledge gap by reminding providers in emergency departments (ED) of diagnoses that may result from nerve agents, chemical agents, biotoxins and emerging infectious diseases. Real-time access to this decision support enables early diagnosis and treatment, which is critical in this subset of patients.

Here's how the Isabel Bioterrorism Module works:

-- Signs and symptoms are either entered by the user through a direct Web interface with the Isabel system or extracted through a Web interface that is launched via an existing electronic medical record (EMR) system.

-- The Isabel Bioterrorism Module immediately presents the provider with a list of likely bioterrorism diagnoses, including nerve agents (e.g. Sarin), chemical agents (e.g. Paraquat), biotoxins (e.g. Abrin) and emerging infectious diseases (e.g. Anthrax). Clicking on each diagnosis gives the provider real-time access to the most up-to-date treatment knowledge information available from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
