Netezza continues rapid growth with significant new customer wins, market expansion

Data Warehouse Appliance Leader Adds American Red Cross, Bank of America, Catalina Marketing, Neiman Marcus and European Retailer The Carphone Warehouse to Customer Roster

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Aug. 22, 2005 -- Netezza Corporation today announced that it continues to generate dramatic momentum in the data warehousing industry by signing 14 new deals, including nine new customers, in the first half of 2005. Among the new customers are American Red Cross, Bank of America, Catalina Marketing, Neiman Marcus and European mobile communications retailer The Carphone Warehouse. The Company has also secured substantial repeat business from existing customers including Epsilon and Premier, Inc. Netezza's momentum in the US market, combined with global expansion in the United Kingdom and Asia Pacific, has resulted in consistent growth and momentum in 2005.

The Netezza Performance Server(R) (NPS(R)) system's increased market share has been driven by demand for cost-effective solutions for analyzing terabytes of detailed data. Since introducing the NPS data warehouse appliance to the market in 2003, Netezza has shipped nearly 70 systems worldwide. Earlier this year, the Company announced the NPS 10000 Series, which scales to accommodate 100 terabytes of data. Netezza also opened an office in Washington, DC to focus on market demand for data management and analytic solutions in the government sector.

"Netezza has clearly defined its place in the market as a company that delivers tremendous business value to its customers," said Ed Zander, chairman and CEO, Motorola and Netezza Board Member. "It's exciting to watch this company gain momentum and increase market share."

"In the first half of 2005, we've added several blue-chip customers and experienced significant traction in the international arena," said Patrick Scannell, senior vice president and CFO of Netezza Corp. "We are very pleased with our performance and attribute this success to our ability to provide organizations with a strategic data warehouse option that delivers measurable business benefits."

The Netezza Performance Server system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance, built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 50 times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization. Customers who have recognized the performance benefits of Netezza's approach include Ahold USA, Amazon.com, Catalina Marketing, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Epsilon, Neiman Marcus, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and The TJX Companies.

"With data volumes on the rise, business organizations require technologies that can perform comprehensive, complex data analyses to align with strategic goals, without incurring substantial costs," said Donald Feinberg, vice president and distinguished analyst, Gartner Inc. "New offerings like data warehouse appliances provide a high-performance, low-cost solution to the market."
