(NASDAQ: JBHT) in upgrading its Carrier Management solution to support business growth. Originally implemented in 1992, the solution helps J.B. Hunt control empty and out-of-route miles, increase productivity and equipment utilization, and offer top service to its customers through on-time pick ups and deliveries. After the upgrade, J.B. Hunt saw a 3 percent improvement in on-time service and a 4 percent decrease in rework.

The upgrade plays an integral part in J.B. Hunt’s strategy to review processes and pinpoint effective ways to expand its planning model. Manhattan Associates and J.B. Hunt worked together to improve J B Hunt's ability to automatically preplan loads. Through the use of recommendations provided by Driver&Load®, J.B. Hunt is now able to auto-preplan nearly 8 percent of its over-the-road (OTR) units.

J.B. Hunt instigated its “auto-preplan” vision utilizing Driver&Load. By matching optimal driver-to-load assignments and recommending them to the Host system to create preplans, the solution completes basic planning tasks and frees J.B. Hunt’s planning team to focus on more complex activities, such as exceptions. This has relieved two Full Time Equivalents (FTEs) of work time for the carrier. In addition, the solution can create unlimited decision variables, helping area service managers supervise their networks and control costs.
