SALT LAKE CITY, BrainShare(R) 2007, March 19, 2007 -- Novell today introduced two new team workspace and real-time collaboration additions to its workgroup product line, Novell(R) Teaming and Novell Teaming + Conferencing. These solutions will help boost end-user productivity and reduce overall customer costs by simplifying the everyday business activities people engage in to create, share, discuss and manage information. With Novell Teaming, employees can create online workspaces and invite other members of the workgroup or organization to participate. Team members use these virtual workspaces to share and access documents, calendars, discussion forums and more. Novell Teaming + Conferencing includes all the capabilities of Novell Teaming and enhances them with real-time collaboration. Team members can collaborate via live voice or Web conferences and instant messaging.

Novell Teaming and Novell Teaming + Conferencing are an important complement to the collaboration capabilities in Novell GroupWise(R) and Novell Open Enterprise Server. They will be easy to use, letting knowledge workers set up their own personal and team workspaces without relying on the IT department. All ideas are captured and stored for retrieval and sharing, and security features use role-based management to make sure the right users have access to the right information.

Open Source Contribution

Novell entered an OEM licensing agreement with SiteScape to offer these new products. SiteScape is contributing a portion of its technology to create the ICEcorps open source project. ICEcorps is the first open source collaboration suite to unite team workspaces with real-time conferencing. Novell will be an ongoing contributor to the ICEcorps project.

Novell Teaming and Novell Teaming + Conferencing are scheduled to be available in the third quarter of this year and can be purchased alone or as complements to the Novell Open Workgroup Suite. Customers who purchase Novell Teaming or Novell Teaming + Conferencing prior to their general availability are eligible to receive free online administrator training, free BrainStorm Quick-Start reference materials for end users, and free product-related customer support (60 days for license-plus-maintenance purchases, 30 days for license-only purchases).
