Visible(R) Analyst Workbench to support OMG's Business Process Management (BPM) standard

LEXINGTON, Mass., July 18,2007 -- Visible Systems Corporation has joined a growing list of vendors that include IBM, Proforma, Telelogic, Sparx Systems and others who support the Object Management Group (OMG) Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN). Visible System's Visible Analyst Workbench v8.0 offers an enterprise architecture modeling environment that now includes modeling support for BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) which can lead companies to true SOA governance. Visible's enterprise modeling tools are well known in the marketplace for their ease of use and ability to handle complex projects. The new release of Visible Analyst Workbench integrates BPMN, a modeling method that has become the de-facto standard for business process and systems modeling. BPMN expresses business processes graphically in a Business Process Diagram (BPD). The objective of BPMN is to support business process management for both technical users and business users by providing a notation that is intuitive to the business users, yet is able to represent complex process (or event) semantics. Information from BPD diagrams are automatically captured and cataloged into Visible Analyst's data repository. Beyond BPMN, Visible's modeling tools open the door to many other popular modeling notations that can be used in conjunction with the new BPD. According to Mike Cesino, Visible's President, "Our modeling tools are fully multi-user and well suited for development teams that need to build large, integrated enterprise business systems." Visible Analyst is supported by a highly comprehensive and automated central repository; offering trace-ability across all objects and artifacts stored in the repository. "This offering enables enterprise IT- related professionals to engage their co-workers in describing and linking business strategy to the underlying business process and information architecture" added Cesino.

Why BPMN is important? BPMN is a visual business process-modeling notation designed for easy adoption by business analysts, technical developers, and business people to manage and monitor processes. The core diagram type created is called a Business Process Diagram that depicts the activities within a business process and the flow controls that determine when the processes are performed. A business process diagram (BPD) is made up of four interconnected constructs: Actors, Activities, Events and States. BPMN is an intuitive notation that uses familiar constructs combined with a complete set of business rules familiar to the business processes. BPMN is positioned as a bridge between modeling and execution; and a bridge between business people and technical implementers of systems that will support the business.
