Oracle's Hyperion named Worldwide market share leader in Corporate Performance Management suites by Gartner

Oracle Leads CPM Suites Market with 28 Percent Combined Market Share REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Aug. 23, 2007 -- Oracle today announced that Oracle's Hyperion has been named the leading Corporate Performance Management (CPM) Suites vendor based on 2006 worldwide software revenues by Gartner.

In Gartner's "Market Share: CPM Suites Software, Worldwide, 2006, Composite View" report, Oracle's Hyperion is the market leader with 20.3 percent market share, growing 14.5 percent year-over-year to reach $315 million in software revenue. Coupling Oracle and Hyperion's market share from this report, Oracle now leads the market with 28 percent of the worldwide market share for CPM Suites. The company's nearest competitor in the CPM Suites market has less than half of Oracle's market share with only 10.9 percent market share.

In its report, Gartner defines CPM as encompassing the processes used to manage corporate performance (such as strategy formulation, budgeting, revenue planning and financial forecasting), the methodologies that drive facets of these processes (such as the balanced scorecard or value-based management), and the metrics used to measure performance against strategic and operational performance goals. (1) The primary functional areas of CPM are budgeting, planning and forecasting, scorecarding, profitability modeling, financial consolidation, financial/statutory reporting, and analytic applications that are part of a BI and Performance Management framework. Gartner noted that the total software revenue in the CPM Suites market grew 20.2 percent to $1.5 billion in 2006, led by the need for organizations to adhere to compliance issues and implement strategic change.

"CPM and Business Intelligence markets and technologies are converging rapidly," said Rich Clayton, vice president, Business Intelligence and Performance Management Marketing, Oracle. "As a leader in these markets, Oracle is providing organizations increased value by delivering the industry's only hot-pluggable, integrated Enterprise Performance Management System that unifies corporate and financial performance management, operational analytic applications, BI tools, reporting and data integration, all on a common Business Intelligence platform."

Oracle Business Intelligence is a portfolio of technology and applications that provides the industry's first integrated, end-to-end Enterprise Performance Management System, including category-leading financial performance management applications, operational BI applications, BI foundation and tools and data warehousing.
