Dell, EMC and Oracle simplify enterprise data warehouse deployment

Industry Leaders Develop Pre-Configured, Fast-to-Implement Data Warehouse Solution

HOPKINTON, Mass., REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., and ROUND ROCK, Texas, Sept. 27, 2007 -- In an effort to help customers ease the acquisition and implementation of data warehouse environments, Dell Inc., EMC Corporation and Oracle today introduced the Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC. This is the first solution of the Oracle Optimized Warehouse Initiative, which is designed to deliver data warehousing solutions based on Oracle(R) Database pre-installed on hardware configured and validated for high performance data warehousing. (See today's related Oracle Optimized Warehouse Initiative press release at http://www.oracle.com/corporate/press/2007_sep/oracle-optimized- warehouse-initiative.html).

Available through Dell, the Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC is a pre-configured, validated data warehouse solution based on Dell PowerEdge servers, EMC CLARiiON CX3 networked storage systems, which are offered by Dell under the Dell|EMC brand, and Oracle Database. Specifically, the Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC consists of a Dell PowerEdge(TM) 2950 with two dual-core Xeon(R) processors, Red Hat or Oracle Enterprise Linux, and a Dell|EMC CX3-10 networked storage system. The Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC covers a range of data warehouse sizes and can scale according to business requirements. Additionally, because the solution is built on industry leading, standards-based software and hardware, existing IT resources and skill sets can be utilized to support the Oracle Optimized Warehouse.

The Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC is designed for all major business intelligence (BI) and data warehouse environments including departmental data marts, enterprise-wide data warehouses, and as infrastructure for BI applications and tools. Because it is pre-built, pre-integrated and tested, Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC can help reduce the purchase cycle while streamlining data warehouse deployments.

"Dell's strong relationship with industry leaders like EMC and Oracle is paramount in our focus of simplifying IT and delivering innovative solutions to meet the needs of our customers," said Rick Becker, vice president of solutions, Dell Product Group. "The Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC offers a strong, simplified foundation for data warehousing as well as a roadmap to help customers easily scale as needed."

"The long-standing collaboration among EMC, Dell and Oracle enables us to help customers simplify the implementation of a well designed data warehouse and easily expand it to meet their business needs," said Mike O'Neill, EMC Vice President, Technology Alliances. "The Oracle Optimized Warehouse for Dell and EMC will help our mutual customers realize substantial cost and time savings, improve key business processes and provides scalability as their performance and capacity needs grow."
