from DSSResources.comBOARD International announces the release of BOARD 6.1Lugano, Switzerland, December 1, 2008 -- BOARD International, global leader in the BI & CPM Toolkit space, announces the release of BOARD 6.1 The version 6.1 extends BOARD interoperability to other vendors’ Multidimensional OLAP Servers (e.g. SAP BW, Microsoft AS, Hyperion Essbase) and offers some important improvements in key areas such as security management, support for large deployments and database administration. Version of BOARD comes as a result of the continuous effort to integrate information from any data source into a single Performance Management and Business Intelligence platform. “The introduction of the OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) fills a gap in our offering, providing our customers with an industry standard method of accessing the most utilized multidimensional engines, such as SAP BW or Microsoft AS “ comments Pietro Ferrari, Head of BOARD Technical Support. “This is particularly relevant for SAP customers, because BOARD offers an easy access to BW data, through a user friendly front-end that ensures fast and flexible BI and CPM application development. Moreover, companies which have discovered the limitations of another multidimensional OLAP Server can now quickly migrate to BOARD, without losing the investments made to create their multidimensional data structure.“ “In addition” - concludes Pietro Ferrari -“the new release includes a series of minor enhancements that streamline the day-to-day activities for security management and large BOARD deployments.” The key new features of BOARD 6.1 are: Integrated ODBO access to OLAP servers This functionality provides the ability to query data from an OLAP server: the ODBO interface extends OLE DB to provide access to multidimensional data, making it available to the BOARD database environment. Dynamic security profiles Thanks to this new feature BOARD dynamically associates the logged-on user to a security profile automatically inherited from the hierarchy elements. This makes it possible to match user ID’s and job roles without the need for the Database Administrator to define the relationship through a database password. LDAP authentication BOARD 6.1 allows users authentication both from Microsoft Active Directory and Ligthweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). The most popular authentication servers such as Lotus Domino, Open LDAP Server, Apache Directory Server are now fully accessible by BOARD Master Security. Increased architectural robustness for 1000+ users deployment Through a peak optimization mechanism, BOARD 6.1 drastically improves the capability of handling sudden increases in the number of users’ processing requests.
