San Diego, CA, June 22, 2009 -- ParAccel, Inc., today announced that the ParAccel Analytic Database™, a high-speed, low-effort, massively parallel (MPP) columnar database management system (DBMS) for data warehousing and analytics, running on Sun Fire™ X4540 storage servers and OpenSolaris™, set TPC-H (ad-hoc-decision support) benchmark world records for performance and price-performance at the 30-terabyte scale factor. The TPC-H-audited Sun-ParAccel configuration ran 7 times faster and provided 16 times better price-performance than the previous category leader. With this breakthrough benchmark, ParAccel also announces support for the OpenSolaris 2009.06 Operating System (OS).

At the 30-terabyte scale factor, the Sun-ParAccel system broke the 1,000,000 mark and delivered performance of 1,050,556 Composite Queries per Hour (QphH) and price performance of US$2.86. In addition, the Sun-ParAccel system loaded the 30 terabytes in only 3.5 hours at a rate of nearly 9 terabytes per hour. Furthermore, PADB delivered this breakthrough performance natively, in its customary “load and go” fashion, without using indexes, manual partitioning, or other tuning devices to achieve these amazing results.
