Tableau recognized as 'Best BI,' 'Best Vendor Tech Support' and 'Best Free Tool'

SEATTLE, Nov. 22, 2010 -- Tableau Software, the global leader in rapid-fire business intelligence software, today announced that its applications won four "excellence" awards from Penton Media's Windows IT Pro® magazine. Tableau received the "Editor's Best: Gold" award and the gold "Community Choice Award" for "best business intelligence" product. The company also won the silver "Community Choice Award" for best vendor tech support. Tableau Public, the free application for creating web-based interactive graphs, received the bronze "Community Choice Award" for best free tool.

The 2010 Editors' Best Awards represent recognition of editors', contributors', and authors' favorite products of the year, based on a product's strategic importance to market, its competitive advantages, and its value to the customer. The Community Choice Awards are voted on by the SQL Server community, weighing products and services that increase performance in crucial business processes.

"When industry experts like SQL Server Magazine and its community choose you for not just one award but four, it carries a lot of significance," said Christian Chabot, CEO and co-founder of Tableau. "We truly appreciate that these awards come to us because of our customers. We measure our success by their daily victories."

This month, Tableau Software announced the general availability of Tableau 6.0. The release brings a new data engine with blazing speeds to Tableau's signature ease-of-use and visual analytics. Tableau 6.0 shifts BI into the do-it-now era by offering the most flexible solution in the market. It enables everyone—from enterprises to enterprising individuals—to rapidly access and analyze all their data for smarter and faster business decisions.

"The SQL Server community responded enthusiastically this year to the awards program, weighing in on products and services that extend SQL Server's native performance and manageability and support the databases that run mission-critical business processes," stated Editorial Director Michele Crockett.

"Our Editors' Best Awards let us leverage our contributing editors' expertise to provide well-earned recognition to products that exceed industry standards," said Jason Bovberg, senior editor at Windows IT Pro This year, we've added valuable, in-the-trenches insight about winning products from our reader community and we're proud to share this information with our Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine communities.
