Teradata selected by Charter Communications for new business intelligence platform

Selection followed competitive tests using anticipated Charter work scenarios

Atlanta, April 15, 2011 — Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) intends to use the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance from Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC) for engineering, marketing, and business intelligence, Teradata announced today.

The new Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance will enable a new level of reporting and analytic capability. It will improve response time of existing workloads comprised of a high number of complex and tactical queries, and satisfy the need to connect and integrate with both operational and business intelligence applications.

Tests utilizing anticipated Charter work scenarios were conducted with Teradata and additional data warehouse data appliance competitors.

The Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance will operate with two Charter software vendors of choice: Informatica for data integration and MicroStrategy for integrated reporting, analysis, and monitoring.

Teradata Viewpoint will provide performance monitoring for fast identification of poor-performing queries.

Teradata Viewpoint provides a suite of web-based applications that can be customized to suit the role of the individual end user based on job functions.

Rewind, an out-of-the-box feature of Teradata Viewpoint, is a cutting-edge tool in the Teradata systems management appliance that gives data base administrators the power to find, investigate and fix issues on the fly.

Six of the country’s 10 largest pay TV companies are Teradata customers.
