Netezza expands scope and capabilities of its enterprise-class data warehousing appliance product line

-- Company Unveils Netezza Performance Server(R) (NPS(R)) 8025 to Extend Product Performance and Simplicity to a Broader Market --

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Nov. 15, 2004 -- Netezza Corporation today announced major enhancements to its Netezza Performance Server(R) (NPS(R)) 8000 product family, including the addition of a new model, the NPS 8025. The NPS 8025 delivers high-performance data warehousing capabilities to organizations with data sizes ranging from 400 gigabytes to one terabyte. By enabling a wider range of customers to realize real-time, tera-scale business intelligence at a lower price point, Netezza continues to expand its market share in the data warehousing industry. With the availability of the NPS 8025, Netezza now offers a product line that scales to accommodate data sizes of 400 gigabytes to 27 terabytes.

"Through 2010, we expect the market for data analysis to experience significant growth as VLDB requirements are increasingly becoming a fact of life for all organizations regardless of size," said Charlie Garry, senior program director, META Group. "From small businesses to global enterprises, any company with fast-growing data will require a solution that offers high performance and scalability at an affordable price point."

In order to meet increased market demand from global enterprises - including current customers such as AT&T Wireless, CNET Networks, Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and The TJX Companies - Netezza has extended the product capabilities of the entire 8000 series. The following enhancements enable users to access even more power from the NPS system to analyze massive data sets:

-- Upgraded workload management capabilities that provide support for hundreds of active users and thousands of queries in enterprise data warehouses and data marts with large multi-user and multi-client environments;

-- Faster bulk data movement speeds -- in excess of 250 gigabytes per hour -- that enable customers with shrinking operations windows to load or back up data;

-- Enhanced support for international customers that provides SQL and ODBC loading/unloading and querying of international native-language on a single world-class data warehouse appliance.

"By expanding the capabilities of the NPS 8000 series, we are able to provide companies of all sizes with high-performance data warehousing functionality," said Jit Saxena, co-founder and CEO, Netezza, Corp. "The addition of the NPS 8025 to the Netezza product family allows organizations that have outgrown the limited performance and costly operational expense of legacy systems to leverage full-featured data warehousing capabilities at the lowest total cost of ownership."

The Netezza Performance Server system is the only data warehouse appliance built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data - 10 to 50 times faster than existing data warehouses, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization. Customers who have recognized the performance benefits of Netezza's approach include AT&T Wireless, CNET Networks, Epsilon, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and The TJX Companies.

Pricing and Availability

The Netezza Performance Server 8025 is available through Netezza and its channel partners immediately at less than $300,000 per system.
