Qatar Islamic Bank chooses Captaris Workflow to automate core business processes

DUBAI, U.A.E, Dec. 14, 2004 -- Captaris Inc., (Nasdaq: CAPA) a leading provider of Business Information Delivery Solutions, announces that Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has chosen Captaris Workflow to automate the Investment Applications Follow-up system, one of the bank's core business applications. Captaris Workflow provides easy, flexible and integrated business process workflow for organizations in any Microsoft or enterprise application environment; enabling dramatic improvements in productivity, accountability and compliancy. As a second stage, the bank will use Captaris Workflow to organize its human resources operations and employee self service applications. Eventually, QIB plans to deploy around 50 workflows that will automate most of its internal operations.

"As QIB's requirements are continuously increasing, we selected Captaris Workflow because it was the best fit for both our current and future business process automation needs," said Rashed Ali M. S. Al-Kobesi, Executive Manager, IT & Elec. Services Department, Qatar Islamic Bank.

Afkar Information Technology, a Captaris reseller in Qatar commented about the implementation, "The hardest part in the solution provided to QIB was to design a business automation solution that integrated with an array of different environments currently available at QIB, including their internal banking system and online services. We implemented Captaris Workflow because it met all the criteria set by the bank," said Murhaf Taia, Business Solutions Manager, Afkar Information Technology Ltd.

Mr. Fadi Honein, Regional Manager MENA, India & Turkey, Captaris added, "Captaris Workflow provides ready-to-use features for rapidly automating simple or complex workflow processes as well as capabilities to manage and monitor automated processes. Web-based workflow wizards provide non-technical workers with the ability to rapidly build, deploy and run fully functional routing and approval workflow. Technical personnel have the ability to exploit the capabilities of the Captaris Workflow IDE to expand on the workflow built by the workflow wizards."

Akfar Information Technology was assisted in the implementation by Netways, an appointed Captaris Workflow distributor for the region. Roula Moussa General Manager of Netways said, "Captaris Workflow enhances business productivity by automating standard interactions between information workers and business applications. One of the benefits of working with a company like Captaris is the strong local support that Captaris Middle East provides from its offices in Dubai. Another is that Captaris Workflow is part of a suite of tools that Captaris provides to improve business information delivery, including Alchemy, Interchange and RightFax."
