SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 12, 2005 – Hyperion (Nasdaq: HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, today announced that Laidlaw Education Services, the largest contractor of student transportation services in North America, has selected Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion’s Business Intelligence tools for reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis of financial and operational data.

With more than 45,000 employees and responsibility for transporting two million students to and from school every day, Laidlaw directs complex operations throughout the United States and Canada. To help manage those operations enterprise-wide, the company purchased Hyperion software to automate its planning and analysis, eliminating the need for manual processes and reducing the use of spreadsheets.

A web-based budgeting and planning solution, Hyperion Planning will drive collaborative, integrated, event-based planning processes throughout the organization. Hyperion’s Business Intelligence tools, running on Hyperion Essbase’s scalable enterprise-class architecture, will be used by the company as an online analytical processing tool for analysis, presentation and reporting throughout the enterprise.

Hyperion Planning will be deployed at more than 450 operating locations, with employees at Laidlaw’s Naperville, Illinois headquarters using it for reporting and budgeting, financial planning and analysis and metrics management. Additionally, 25 employees will use Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion’s Business Intelligence tools to track and evaluate branch performance and metrics management.
