Data governance (DataGov) refers to a broad process of managing the availability, usability, integrity and security of data used in an enterprise. The Data Governance Institute (DGI) defines this concept as follows: "Data Governance is a system of decision rights and accountabilities for information-related processes, executed according to agreed-upon models which describe who can take what actions with what information, and when, under what circumstances, using what methods.”
Gwen Thomas is the Founder of The Data Governance Institute (www.datagovernance.com) and primary author of the DGI Data Governance Framework.
