How does the Internet of Things change decision support?

Speculation about the Internet of Things (IoT) is increasing and new devices linked to the Internet are coming to market. IoT the the most interestin new information technology for expanding decision support applications. According to SAS (2014), "the Internet of Things is a growing network of everyday objects – from industrial machines to consumer goods – that can share information and complete tasks while you are busy with other activities, like work, sleep or exercise."

The Internet of Things creates opportunities. Some uses may create new products or capabilities, others may make the way current activities occur obsolete or unnecessary.
