SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 8, 2006--Hyperion (Nasdaq:HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, today announced that BNSF Railway Company, one of the largest railroad networks in North America, has recently been recognized for excellence in Business Intelligence (BI) and performance management solutions by two leading industry organizations, The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) and Ventana Research.

TDWI, the premier provider of in-depth, high-quality education and training in business intelligence, awarded BNSF Railway the top spot in its Business Performance Management category. Ventana Research, the leading performance management research and advisory services firm, named BNSF the winner of its Finance Performance Leadership award.

The winning solution uses Hyperion Essbase to support business analytics and leverages the underlying Teradata enterprise data warehouse as a centralized source of enterprise performance data. The application features an intuitive dashboard that enables BNSF to pull information from all of its business systems into a single view so that the company can identify problems before they affect service levels. The dashboard provides BNSF's decision makers with the information they need to respond quickly to customer needs and to improve company performance.

A second application, the OnTrack program, won The Ventana Research award for Finance Performance Leadership. That program uses Hyperion Business Intelligence (BI) technology to enable business users and budget managers to drive future business decisions based not only on analysis of past performance, but on scenario and "what if" analysis as well. The improved efficiency in forecasting also allows BNSF to be more proactive in analyzing industry trends. All actual financial and operational source data in OnTrack is delivered from Hyperion partner Teradata's enterprise data warehouse.
