TIBCO General Interface named a winner in InfoWorld's Best of Open Source Software awards

InfoWorld Editors Cite TIBCO General Interface as the 'Gold Standard' Among Ajax Toolkits

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 19, 2007 -- TIBCO Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) today announced that IDG's InfoWorld, the leading integrated media brand for IT Solutions Management, has honored the company with a 2007 Bossie Award, selecting TIBCO General Interface(TM) as the best open source Ajax toolkit in the Software Development category. TIBCO General Interface outshined other key players in the space, including Microsoft's and Google's offerings.

InfoWorld Test Center Chief Technologist Tom Yager commented on TIBCO General Interface in the Bossie special report published on September 10, 2007, stating: "This gold standard among Ajax toolkits is unexpected generosity from a middleware titan. It is unquestionably worth charging for, and yet it's not only free, it's open sourced under the extraordinarily liberal BSD license."

Available through an open source licensing option, TIBCO General Interface allows users to quickly develop sophisticated Web applications that run in a standard Web browser without plug-ins, Active-X controls, Java applets or client-side software installation, yet provide the rich features of desktop-style user interfaces. With more than 100 ready-made Ajax components out-of-the-box, hundreds more functions, as well as an easy-to-use visual layout, data management and communication tools, TIBCO General Interface enables solution developers of any scale to create solutions with extraordinary speed.

"We saw tremendous potential in TIBCO General Interface back before Ajax even became vernacular to the developer community," said Jeff Kristick, vice president, Product Marketing, TIBCO. "To ensure its wide-spread industry adoption and success we wanted to remove all barriers to access and open sourcing the software seemed like the best approach. The recent ten-fold increase in downloads for TIBCO General Interface and numerous accolades in the past year continue to reinforce that we made the right decision. We are honored to have been named a Bossie Award winner."

"Open Source Software has moved into the mainstream," said Steve Fox, Editor in Chief at InfoWorld. "InfoWorld's inaugural Bossie Award winners represent mature, flexible, and reliable solutions that increasingly define the segment."

Introduced this year, the Bossies recognize the Best Open Source Software available for the enterprise. InfoWorld selected those businesses that exemplified innovation, functionality, ease of use, implementation, and a proven track record in serving the needs of today's businesses.
