Tableau Software selected as winner of 2010 CODiE Awards for 'Best Software Development Solution'

WASHINGTON and SEATTLE, May 12, 2010 -- The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) has announced that Tableau Software has been selected as the winner of the prestigious CODiE Awards in the "Best Software Development" category.

One hundred eighty-eight products from 136 companies were selected as finalists from more than 785 nominations submitted by 374 companies. Nominated products underwent an intensive review by subject matter experts, analysts, journalists, and others with deep experience in the field. 34 winners for the 2010 CODiE Awards were announced yesterday in San Francisco.

"This is the twenty-fifth year we have recognized excellence in the software, education and information industries through the CODiE Awards program," noted Ken Wasch, President of SIIA. "In this economic climate, companies are doing even more to innovate. Tableau has demonstrated a commitment to innovation and quality that is reflected in their selection as a finalist for the CODiE Awards. I am pleased and proud to have them listed among the winners."

Tableau's award-winning products provide browser-based interactive analytics anyone can use and share in minutes. No programming is required. People connect to virtually any data source and rapidly create interactive dashboards, reports and visualizations. In just a few clicks, they can share their work or embed it in other applications so that anyone can interact and benefit from the live analytics. Tableau is a replacement of the slow pace and rigidity of traditional analytics programming interfaces.

"We're thrilled to win this award because it recognizes that Tableau solves a common problem faced by software product vendors," said Lynn Smith, Director of Tableau's OEM business. "They want to embed analytics and reporting into their applications, but they find conventional data visualization tools too complex, charting packages too limited, and business intelligence applications too expensive and hard to use. With Tableau, ISVs can quickly embed Tableau's powerful visual data analysis tools into their applications."
