What is the context of decision making?

Context matters. The situation in which a decision must be
made influences the decision that is made. For example, a
computer supported decision situation is vastly different
than a non-supported situation. The decision context helps
determine what information is needed to support decision
making. Understanding the context of managerial decision-making
is important in building decision support applications. The
decision-making context defines both the potential for and
the limits to decision support. We need to consider the whole
decision cycle and process and all of the varied decision
activities of managers and their staff.
