1) What is an enterprise-class translytical database?

Translytical is a portmanteau word, in that parts of the words transaction and analytical are combined to form a new word and concept. A translytical database is an in-memory, multi-model database that places data into system memory for processing. Compared to traditional database management systems (DBMS), in-memory databases have many fewer disk I/O operations which results in improved performance and response times. According to Forrester, translytical databases provide very high performance levels for both transactions and analytics. Translytical databases are a new and emerging database category. An enterprise-class translytical database increases the speed of real-time data analysis at large enterprises and organizations.
